Welcomme, Finnan & Chrimes

Three of the most seasoned and accomplished performers from the North-West folk scene. John Finnan, Andy Chrimes and Frank Welcomme are all possessed of the finest folk pedigrees having individually, as members of groups such as The Black Diamonds, Kinfolk and Fiddlestone and in their own right as WFC, made outstanding contributions to folk music in the area, bringing fine singing and musicianship to this region for decades.

Singer/songwriter/humourist and raconteur extraordinaire AJ has been a major presence on the UK music scene for 30 years. He is rightly renowned as one of the country’s funniest performers. His songs address a dizzying array of topics from The Man From Uncle to Car Boot Sales, Presidents, Karaoke Nights, Nuns, Grandchildren (and how to avoid them), to Camping, Bigots, and Hitchhiking.

The welcome return of some good friends of the Raven Folk Club and Chester Folk Festival. Juniper describe themselves thus, “Genre-bending, energising, boundary-crossing. Juniper are a group of close friends who combine their collective musical influences on the stage to create a show full of bold, intriguing traditional and contemporary sounds.” All of which we know to be true. It’s good to have them back.

Fiddlestone

A heady mix of contemporary and traditional English, Scottish and Irish songs & tunes from a veteran band who are a genuine legend around the North-West. If you’ve not encountered Fiddlestone before then I am sure you will be beguiled and delighted by their strong arrangements, multi-instrumental dexterity, fine harmonies and engaging stage-presence. If you’ve met them before….well….you’ll know all that anyway.
